Charlene Chacon began her career in the green industry as an interior plant technician and thrived in the retail garden center market before receiving her degree in Horticulture from Colorado State University (CSU) in 2001. Charlene has been involved in a considerable capacity at the company leading up to her current role as the Residential Construction Team Manager.

Designscapes Colorado is a notable firm in the Colorado landscaping industry, known for offering comprehensive services that include custom landscape design, installation, and maintenance. Their work includes creating functional and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces for both residential and commercial properties.

One of the core values at Designscapes Colorado, “Build and Shape a Better Future” is one that Charlene holds close to her heart. She has implemented several programs to provide opportunities for employees and the company to give back to their community.

Charlene is an active member of the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC). This association provides opportunities for professional development, certification, and industry recognition. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors and previously has served on numerous committees within the association. Charlene is committed to continuous learning and adherence to the high standards set by the landscape industry in Colorado. She is engaged in the landscape industry with a commitment to excellence and elevating industry standards.

Elevating women within the green industry and attracting women from other industries is a passion for Charlene. She serves as the women’s program lead at Designscapes Colorado and the committee chair for the ALCC Women in Green committee. Charlene has participated in national women leadership conferences annually for over twenty years. She has spoken on several panels including the ProGreen Expo and Thought Leaders Forum.

Charlene has received serval awards, recognized by her peers including an ALCC ELITE Award for Best Use of Annual Color, the ALCC John Garvey Person of the Year Award, an ALCC ELITE Award for MVP, ALCC ELITE Award for Community Stewardship and the CSU Distinguished Alumni Award in Environmental Horticulture.

When not embraced in her work, Charlene enjoys spending time and creating memories with her husband, Oscar who is also an industry professional and their three sons.
